This is an unrestored 1941 John Deere A hand start tractor hooked up to a 1936 Van Brunt grain drill filled with oats. Operator (my Father is also 1941) ran this exact grain drill from 1950 until 1959 then was stored until 2011 where he is running it again for the first time in 52 years. The drill was purchased by my great grandfather in 1936. The tractor was bought at an auction for $375 in 2003 from farmers in Nebraska that were rumored to be well known bootleggers back in the day and financed their farm with the proceeds. When the tractor was brought home and started for the first time, it continually smoked for 5 minutes then cleared up and ran excellent. Apparently someone actually stored it with oil in the cylinders.
