John Deere 300D burns in Dennis

DENNIS -- Around 3:25 pm Sunday, September 25, 2011, the Dennis Fire Department received a call for a vehicle fire in the vicinity of 722 Old Bass River Road at the intersection of Paddock's Path. On the third attack, the mixture of water and Class A foam enabled firefighters to fully extinguish the fire. The photo at right shows Dennis firefighter Kevin Laurie in the process of replenishing the forestry truck's 400-gallon water supply. As seen in the photo at top, the cab and engine compartment of the vehicle were heavily damaged. The fire is considered to be of suspicious origin. A Barnstable County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Officer (CIO) was called to the scene as well as the Dennis Police Department K9 unit. The incident is under investigation by the Dennis Fire and Police departments. According to the manufacturer, the John Deere 300D articulated hauler has a rated payload of 60000 pounds and a heaped capacity of 21.7 cubic ...
