John Deere 1954 model R (R21315) climbing up the Goorianawa mountain.MOV

Model R John Deere climbing the Goorianawa mountain road out of Baradine .... traveling home around 30mile (48km) from the Baradine agricultural show 2009 I bought this tractor in 1977 in a partially dissembled state and had been so for some years. The flywheel and cranking engine and most ancillary parts were situated on one farm and around 10mile away on another farm was the main part .... the diesel cylinder head was still attached and the cylinders had been getting rain water into them. The big end bearings were partialy dissembled, large burring was evident on the cap joint faces where a cold chisel had been used in an attempt to prise them apart. The pistons were stuck in the cylinder block. the crankshaft would not rotate at all To complete the dissembly it was necessary to remove the cylinder block attaching nuts to let the seized pistons and connecting rods move away from the crankshaft, it was found that the flywheel side (LHS) main bearing was seized and firmly melted onto the shaft journal....it was also found that the LHS main bearing oil supply pipe was broken at the main bearing housing ,,, it was found that the oil and fuel filters were new... it was found the the oil in the filter head was very clean and could be said to be brand new....the govenor shaft support bearings had fresh grease in the ball races (you need to do it this way to assemble the loose balls into the races) it was also found that the govenor diesel fuel pump control yoke or fork was not ...
